As long as you don't expect to point it down a B-road and get much idea what the front wheels are actually doing you will love the car. Fuel consumption won't win any prizes - but for why I bought the car, it works very well indeed. The more I drive it, the more I realise that is the case. Photos of the colour combo would be welcome :D
1.i find sales are great its the service department who may be the problem 2+5.only time u notice it is if you rev it hard other then that its fine and if your using the stereo (which when i first looked at the volvo i was thinking of replacing till i heard it) you wont hear it at all 4. depends how you drive it but dont expect great figures ( ) but i always look at it that i drive it how ever i want and get twice to 3 times the economy of driving a t5 the same
Interesting thread, I'm currently driving a 2008 V70 D5 and am very disappointed with the fuel consumption. I have a great deal of experience in V70 T5s and usually wind up getting around 25mpg overall once they have loosened up, the D5 is giving me 29.5 after 3000 miles. If I go on a long journey I can just about get it up to 30 but it won't stay there for long and soon drops below. Is this par for the course or should I get a dealer to look at it? I was expecting at least 35 mpg and perhaps more... :( Rich...

Thanks for the responses. Seeing as though the car has only done 350 miles it's not fair yet to gauge (though my last car hit 40mpg average as soon as I picked it up and rarely changed over 3 years). So far it has averaged 37.3mpg but that is with very careful driving i.e. no more than 75mph on motorways plus some town driving with a lightweight right foot. Actually, that leads to another question - don't laugh when I raise the point about a running-in period as I know engines these days are run-in when you buy them but Volvo is the first company of all I have purchased from not warning you to keep within a max rev range for the first 500 miles or so. I'm sure it doesn't make much difference but it's interesting all the same. That is the main reason I haven't caned it yet to be honest (will do by the end of the week though!). Mercmanuk - I'm sorry you have had these problems and that it has clouded your view of the car. I hope the dealer sorts it for you. Still very early days but I'm more impressed with the car every time I step into it. I still cannot get to grips with those who say the engine is gruff or even agricultural! It seems to me to be one of the most refined cars I have travelled in (and I have been in many). I suppose it depends what you're used to driving but to me it is hushed and there is no problem using the Bluetooth system to make calls at any speed. Dodgyken - like you it would seem the car is ideal for my needs. If I do hit the B roads I'll treat it with caution!!!
